رئیس‌جمهور از فرصت‌های ۱۵ ساله این گروه برای کاهش وابستگی به کشور‌های غربی سخن گفت و بر لزوم کاهش سلطه دلار از طریق ایجاد سبد ارزی بریکس تأکید کرد.
به گزارش گروه سیاسی خبرگزاری دانشجو، مسعود پزشکیان در اجلاس بریکس اظهار داشت: «طی ۱۵ سال گذشته، این نهاد فرصتی فراهم کرده تا کشور‌های مستقل سرنوشت خود را صرفاً به کشور‌های غربی گره نزنند.»
